Sasha is currently exploring her competitive nature. During recess in the month of October, the 1st and 2nd graders can enter a jump roping contest. Sasha and her friend Bryn are at the top of the 1st graders, with over a hundred jumps each!
Yesterday the girls were home sick from school. This morning before school, Sasha was practicing her jump roping (sans rope). She was practicing because she was concerned that Bryn had taken advantage of the day she wasn't there to become jump rope leader. She was concerned about this because the other day, Bryn asked if Sasha would let her become the leader. Sasha said no. Apparently she likes being the best jumper and is not about to give it up, even for a friend. Bryn was a bit upset that Sasha wouldn't let her be in the lead, hence the concern that Bryn would take the one day Sasha wasn't there to regain the lead. Sasha wanted to be prepared to defend her title.
10/31/07 update: Sasha reigns victorious!! The competition ended with Sasha as the top 1st grade jump-roper.
11/09/07 update: I was at school today for the jump roping awards. Sasha jumped consecutively 286 times! Bryn ended up with 226. The next highest jumper was 113. Erika got noticed as most improved: at the beginning she couldn't even jump once and with practice she got to 50. I'm so proud!
