New Year's weekend was also quite relaxing, although the girls were going a bit stir-crazy since they had two weeks off from preschool and dance class. They missed all their friends! Luckily, the scooters were around to burn off energy on. They were much better riders by this weekend - balancing on one leg and testing out the brakes.
Most of the weekend was spent getting ready for Joe's birthday on Monday. On Friday we went shopping to buy things for Joe's birthday. On Saturday we made pumpkin cheesecake and made the marinade for the London Broil. On Sunday, the girls made a several paintings and drew several pictures for Joe. They also decorated the pumpkin cheese cake with Skittles and jellybeans ("Isn't that a good idea Mommy?" "Oh...yes...that's a great idea (:P) "). On Monday the girls made placemats with party hats, balloons, fireworks and cake. They were quite festive.
After dinner (which came out delicious if I have to say so myself), Joe had to stand on the chair so the girls could sing Happy Birthday. They sang "Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! You look like a monkey... and you smell like one too!" because, of course, that's really funny when you're five. Then we all ate two pieces of cake.
